All you get for completing its mission chain is a useless expanding prothean ball. What has the Hammerhead ever archived in its life-time? Nothing. Without the Mako, Shepard would never have been able to get to through to the conduit in time to stop Saren. The mako was an essential part of the mission to stop Saren and without it Shepard could never have succeeded. While the Hammerhead needs to hide behind rocks to avoid detection and fire its puny missiles for minutes on end to take out even the most basic of enemies, the Mako can charge right into the middle of an enemy stronghold and obliterate countless numbers of enemies with its mighty cannon or by simply running them over. Even on Insanity difficulty the Mako is impervious to anything less than a thresher maw. A magnificient space tank which is superior to the Hammerhead in every concievable way. It is awful in every way.Ĭontrast this with the Mako. The onboard VI admonishes you if you shoot shifty-looking space cows. The mineral extraction sound is bugged in LE so it makes your ears bleed. The missile launcher is weak and takes forever to kill anything. It is incredibly fragile, its maneuverability is worthless in combat because pretty much every enemy in ME2 uses hitscan weapons and it has no shields and no visible healthbar which makes combat in it an incredibly frustrating experience. There are plenty of rational reasons for Hating the hammerhead.
